The Parramatta Golf Club closed in 1927 and formed two new courses, Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club and St. Andrew's Golf Club in Blacktown.
In 1927 the owner of the land, R Park, began constructing an 18-hole course which was opened in 1929 as St Andrew's Golf Club. The course was occupied by the RAAF during World War II and reopened as a 9-hole course, when a group of Freemasons purchased the property and formed Ashlar Golf Club Limited in May 1947, and reopened as the Ashlar Golf Course with 18 holes on 14 June 1948. The club building was extended in 1980.
