Description
This photo has been reproduced from the original which belongs to Mrs McPhee. Image shows pews and the altar with four seated people inside Pioneer Memorial Church in Rooty Hill. The church is built on land donated by Charles McKay. The church, which was originally a Baptist Church, opened in 1891 and closed around 1913. It was acquired for the local Presbyterian community by James Angus, McKay's successor as owner of the Minchinbury estate and reopened on 10 January 1925. The church later became the Western Blacktown Presbyterian Church and is now known as the Hope at the Hill Presbyterian Church.
Provided in the recollection of Mrs McPhee to Mount Druitt Historical Society written by Margaret Lovely.
