This was unanimously adopted and it is believed that Blacktown was the first Patriotic Fund to include merchant seamen in their list of beneficiaries. Remarks: 18 June 1942 MV Macdhui attacked by Japanese aircraft in Fairfax Harbour, Port Moresby. Ten crew were killed and wounded when a bomb exploded in the ship's stateroom.
